Heatwave

It’s hot this weekend. And we are only half full. Next weekend, we are fully booked. What’s the odds that the weather won’t be as good.

The sun is beating on my office window, so the blinds are drawn. I’ve got a portable air conditioner – luxury! – but I have to turn it off when the phone rings, because I can’t hear over the noise it makes. Ho hum.

Fred Pontin said it first

We are fully booked for Easter.  Completely, totally, solidly, booked for Easter. No vacancies at all.

There’s still spaces on most other dates, but, to get the best choice of accommodation and dates, follow the advice of Fred Pontin…….

Book Early…………………………………………….

Three Engineers go on Holiday

There are three engineers holidaying in a caravan; an electrical engineer, a gas engineer and a Microsoft computer engineer. Suddenly the water heater stops working and the shower runs cold.

The electrical engineer suggests stripping down the electronics of the boiler and trying to trace where a fault might have have occurred.

The gas engineer suggests maybe the gas is not flowing correctly and proposes asking the site warden to change the calor cylinder.

The Microsoft engineer, not knowing much about anything, comes up with a suggestion. “Why don’t we close all the caravan windows, get out, get back in, then open all the windows again and then see if it works?

Our Local

The Legh Arms, our local pub, has introduced a “Light Bites” menu, so we went to sample it.

Pie of the Day was a very nice Steak and Kidney, which was served with peas, very tasty gravy and some terrific home made chips. Mash is an option.

Landlord Jed tells us that he is close to opening the Crab and Lobster restaurant (next door to the pub) and promises an “unusual and innovative” menu.

Snow Joke

We are covered in snow again.

What a winter!

We don’t normally suffer with snow – we are too near the coast. Usually we get a smattering that stays for a day or so.

Not this year. Apparently it’s officially the worst winter for 20 years……

I ordered 375 kg of rock salt and two grit-spreaders before Christmas. The spreaders have arrived, but the rock salt?

Not a bit. None at all. Not even enough to cover a plate of chips.

No doubt it will arrive after the snow clears. And then we will have 20 years of mild winters.

In the meantime, that’s £1000 spent…..
